WHAT IS WHOLISTIC LIVING

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO A CONSCIOUS WAY OF LIFE

What is wholistic living, exactly?

How many years have you vowed to lose weight as your New Year's Resolution?

And how many years did you actually accomplish that goal?

You started counting calories, drank more water, ate low fat foods,  stopped eating sugar, and maybe you even started an exercise routine.

The first two weeks everything was golden! The next thing you know you're sitting there in your bed eating a candy bar or a piece of cake and everything went to hell in a hand basket.

Ever wonder why?

Did you blame yourself?

Did you call yourself a weak fat ass?

Did you give up?

Let me just start off by saying it's not your fault. You haven't been educated properly on how to lose weight and maintain it.

The reason why you failed is because you were only focusing on one thing- your body. However, to be truly successful, you have to focus on your mind, body, soul, and your environment.

Holistic is defined as “ relating to or concerned with wholes or complete systems rather than with the

analysis of, treatment of, or dissection into parts.”

You have to focus on your whole being in order to be successful.

To lose weight you have to change your way of life-

  • what you eat

  • how you deal with stress

  • identify the reason why you eat

  • remove junk and toxic food from your home environment

  • change how you look at food

Basically, you have to change your mind, body, soul, and your environment.

In Eastern medicine it means treating the entire person, not just one system or one part.

I believe in Naturopathic and Ayurvedic medicine, treating the root cause of your symptom not just the symptom itself. This is what we should return to- get back to the fundamentals.

Back to Eden

The Most High through Intelligent Design made the human being. Our whole self is made up of complex physical, mental, and spiritual systems that all function and coexist in one vessel.

If something goes wrong with one system it will affect the others. People who experience depression often have physical symptoms such as pain and fatigue that are real. It’s our body’s way of getting our attention.

He also gave us a way to heal ourselves through plants, energy, meditation/prayer, fasting, and exercise.

We were not meant to live the way we are living now-

  • up all hours of the night

  • eating processed and chemical based foods

  • using chemicals to clean our bodies and our environment

  • detached from nature

  • glued to the computer, phone, or TV

We need to take a step back, refocus, and prioritize our health and well being. Use natural healing herbs, plant real food in our own gardens, raise our own livestock- if you eat meat, wear natural fiber clothing, use plant based hygiene products, clean our homes with natural ingredients, purify our home's air supply with plants. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Where do we start?

Wholistic Living is about being in tune with your mind, body, soul, and the environment. In order to achieve optimal health, one has to understand that the relationship between these four things is symbiotic; they depend on each other.

It's easy to get started- take baby steps. Make one change, do it everyday for thirty days; then make another change. Keep doing that until you have made the necessary changes to live wholistically.

If you fall, dust yourself off, get up, and try it again.

Check out my blog post on starting your wholistic journey, it will point you in the right direction.

If we want to better ourselves, we have to make changes in the whole, not just the part. This is what Wholistic Living is all about. This blog is dedicated to giving you information in the four categories that make up your whole being- Mind, Body, Soul, and Environment.

That’s why I say being Wholistic is a Lifestyle. You have to address all four areas in order to see the best results. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming, but it does take commitment- the commitment to keep trying, even when you fail.

So, Welcome to the blog!

Peace and Blessings!
